Viktoriya Mironova

Grade 9 · KAU School · Almaty, Kazakhstan

I am a ninth-grade student at KAU School in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Driven by personal experience with atopic dermatitis, I'm pursuing questions at the intersection of dermatology, immunology, and microbiome science.

My central research question — why some cells regenerate while others do not — extends into the mechanisms of skin barrier dysfunction, individual variability in therapeutic response, and the role of the gut–skin microbiome axis during flare-ups. More broadly, I am interested in cell biology, immunology, and translational research on skin diseases.

Outside the lab, I founded and lead my school's biology club, volunteer with families in crisis at Dom Mamy, and build small mobile apps for health.
